My name is Laura Armitage, I’m The Springboard Project Leader and the Head of Sixth Form at Springfield School, Crewe. It is my absolute pleasure to have responsibility for this new, exciting opportunity for young adults in our local area. I have worked with children and young adults with learning difficulties, as a teacher, moving from Mainstream to Specialist schools. I am proud to be a part of our students lives and see the progress that they make. This is another opportunity to further develop young adults and equip them for the world of work.
Sian Rayner has joined The Springboard Project team. She is based at The Hub and works with the interns on EHCP targets, English, Maths, Life Skills and work related learning. Sian is an experienced teacher and is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for all interns and is thrilled to be a part of the interns’ journeys from student to employee.
We are working closely with colleagues from Safe Opportunities, who set up and support placements for our interns. They have a wealth of experience and brilliant relationships with a whole range of local businesses so are able to link interns with supportive employers and negotiate contracts when the match is right! They do daily attendance calls, regular visits and gather termly feedback to identify what’s going well and what could be improved.
Grow and Achieve provide us with Job Coaches trained in Systematic Instruction and Therapeutic Behaviour Support to enable all interns to achieve their potential in the workplace. They feedback to us on a weekly basis so we are able to monitor progress and identify when a placement might need adjusting.
We update Zoe Macey, Cheshire East Supported Internship Coordinator regularly and she plays an active role in recruitment of interns and signposting to useful contacts.
